Looking back at our 2011 season, the Aquaducks set a few club records. Our biggest and most challenging pyramids ever, were successfully performed at the Wisconsin State Show Ski Championships in Wisconsin Rapids; the largest show skiing tournament in the world. Even though we are still basking in the glow of those accomplishments, it’s time to look forward to 2012.

So what does that mean? Well, our winter hibernation is over! You may think that because we are a water ski team that we only practice in the warm months when the truth is all of the hard
work is done in the “off” season. After we wrap up our fall pier fundraiser in late October, most of the club members enjoy some time off while others are planning for the upcoming season.

Now that January 1st has passed the countdown to our first show begins and preparations kick in to high gear. Props for our stage and pier are being built, the girls are working on
choreographing our new dances, the theme is being developed, indoor practices (a.k.a. drylands), music selections are being made, costumes are being designed and sewn, boats and
pontoons are being overhauled and so much more.

Our first show on Saturday, May 26th will debut our new theme Skicago. The new DA in town has vowed to do away with jazz and show skiing completely. Watch as our aspiring show skier,
Roxie, will do anything to be a star in the show. And, don’t forget to keep an eye on Willie, the flashy attorney turned talent manager. He has promised that Roxie will be a star and that the DA’s plans derailed. And finally, we hope to debut our new triple rig this year which will allow us to pull even bigger and more entertaining acts.

So hold on tight as the Aquaducks look to razzle and dazzle our audience all season long!

**Don’t forget to check back soon and follow us on Facebook, Twitter, or other social

With the many accomplishments of 2010 for the Brown’s Lake Aquaducks, we are raising the bar yet again. Being our second year as a Division 1 team, we look forward to pump even more adrenaline this summer for you. Just because we have to live with Old Man Winter for a few months, doesn’t mean that we stop practicing. We work hard during the winter months to plan for the next season and practice building pyramids in gymnasiums. We work hard every year to make our pyramids bigger, our barefooters foot harder, and our jumpers go higher.

We would love to see you at our shows. Our shows are free, so you have nothing to lose. Why do we do this? Because we love doing what we do. Check out our show schedule here.

We start up pretty soon, so to get your blood pumping, we will post the intro from our end of the year video (2010 Aquaducks: Revolution). Enjoy!

June 28, 1943- January 03, 2011

Andrea was a lifetime member of the Browns Lake Water Ski Club and received the Board Appreciation Award in 2010. Both Andrea and her family have been dedicated members of the club for decades. Her husband, John Zoske, currently serves as the club’s President. Her son, John Jr., is a current member and former skier as well as her grandson, Brandon, whom now skis in the main show.

Andrea fought a long battle with Parkinson’s. Even though it was a terrible diagnosis, Andie along with her family fought hard with dignity and grace. In the end, this cruel disease won however the people that she met, along with a sport that she loved, are the real winners.

What many may not know is how Andie’s legacy will live on through what is now known as the Ballet Line.

In 1977, the Aquaducks competed in their first tournament. When they returned, the leaders realized they had a lot of work to do including improvements to the ballet line act. They competed again in ’78 and in ’79, Andie, suggested they start the Ballet Line with a “hop dock”. Previously, the girls started on two skis and would drop a ski before they began their routine on the water.

In the spring of 1980, club leaders gathered to brainstorm on ways to improve the show. It was at that meeting that Andie suggested a Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders theme complete with costumes, music and choreographed dances. The girls worked tirelessly for two months in preparation for their debut at the Janesville Blackhawk Open. It was at the tournament, that the modern day Ballet Line was born; the judges and audience were blown away.
Over the years, the Aquaducks have prided themselves on the high caliber of the Ballet Line capturing state, regional and national titles. This proud heritage could not have been possible if not for the foresight and innovative thinking by Andie.

Although Andie has left us in the physical sense, she will remain in our hearts and memories forever.

So, every time the music starts, the ropes pull tight and you hear the familiar “slap” of the ballet line skis hitting the water just remember how it all started with Andie.

Forever loved and missed.

2009 was a great success for the Brown’s Lake Aquaducks. We ended up bringing home the Division II State Championship title home for the second year in a row. It was a huge relief after the amount of preparation and dedication that our members commit to the success of the show. Since we won the Division II State Title two years in a row, we are now moving up to Division 1. Division 1 will be raising the bar for the Aquaducks to challenge, but we are ready to take the challenges that lie ahead of us. Since 2009 was such a great success for the team, it only means that 2010 will take a lot more effort and hard work to continue the strong advancements that the club has made in the past few years.

Although that our lake may be frozen right now, it doesn’t mean that our members stop working. We continue to fundraise and plan for the next season’s show. We are starting the new year by re-vamping our website. Be sure to check back soon and follow us on Facebook, Twitter, or other social networking websites for updates. Many other projects are being worked on through the winter months. Our theme for the show gets developed, our costumes get sewn, our props for our show get made, our skiers practice complicated pyramids in gymnasiums, and many other projects get worked on while we take a break from skiing. We just hope to see you come out and visit us soon!
